The wines of the brand Borgate originate in Abruzzo, which is dominated by the Apennines. The few flat areas are situated high above sea level and the climatic conditions vary from cool and humid in the high inland to constantly warmer and drier at the Adriatic coast. Most of the vineyards are located on hills with calcareous clay soils along the Adriatic Sea.
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC is a controlled denomination of origin in Abruzzo. The wine is produced out of grapes of the four provinces L’Aquila, Teramo, Chieti and Pescara and consists of 100% Montepulciano. It is processed with methods from the white wine production why it is characterized by a shiny bright cerise colour.
