The Sorentberg is a steep slope vineyard in the German region of Mosel, which had been forgotten for over 25 years. In 2011 Tobias Treis and his business partner and friend Ivan Giovanett have brought the vineyard to new life. Of the 9.5 hectares 4.5 are currently planted. The Sorentberg has an exceptional soil, called “Wissenbach slate”!
This Sorentberg Riesling „Von 1000 Alte Reben“ (“From 1000 old vines”) is something very special. When the steep slope was newly planted, 1000 ungrafted about 100-year-old vines were found. They were cut back to 30 cm and then sprouted again. From the 1000 vines about 600 bottles are produced per year.
